1. Oxalic Acid Vaporizers
a. The State Beekeepers Association donated 2 OAV to our local club. These cost about $550 each.
A checkout system is needed. Currently, one went home with Glen Tison for 3 weeks phone
number is 850-814-1099, the other went home with Buddy Rich.

2. Group Conversation
a. Chipley Beekeepers Association—to host a bee college of sorts. March 29th and 30th.
b. What’s blooming—maple which is blooming early and another freeze may cause issues to stunt
further blooms.
i. Spanish needle is in bloom.
ii. There is current concern about titi
c. Small Fly issue—some beekeepers are noticing very small flies in the hive that haven’t been
noticed before. Nobody has any answers.
d. Hive Loss—it has been mentioned that someone’s homeowner’s insurance has covered
beehives lost from the storm as property damage. Not bees, just hives.
e. Meeting Rooms—we need to find a current meeting room. UF sustained damage in the
hurricane and is the normal meeting spot. James Morris has been very kind in offering his
business. Options are; Men’s center that the UF is currently using for their other meetings; Bay
County Public Library; Oakland Terrace Room, and NBH School. We have a teacher that our club
is currently mentoring at Bay Haven and he might help us with this. Will Therrien 850-814-

f. Pollinator Questionnaire—a local beekeeper and MG has received a pollinator survey and
would like it to be sent out to our members in case they want to complete it. Will go out via the
Tupelo Beekeepers email after received.

3. Club Elections—this was put off in October due to the hurricane. Unfortunately, Dan and Carrie
Morthland (President and Secretary) have had sustained significant damage to their home. They have
chosen at this time to move and should close on January 31, 2019. Those wishing to run for office had
emailed in their intentions prior to the meeting, and proxy votes were accepted due to short notice.
Only 3 proxy votes were returned. Each candidate had the chance to speak for 3 minutes.
a. For President members running were: Buddy Rich/Jim Reich; Vice President: Fern
Compton/Charles Hay; Secretary: Shalome Clark; Treasurer: Tom Bannick stayed in office
b. Current officers are President: Buddy Rich; VP Fern Compton; Secretary Shalome Clark;

c. New officers will meet at Hancock Bank, Tuesday, January 15, at 2:00 pm to get added to the
bank account.
