Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 1900.
Members present:
Skipper Turk (President), James Morris (VP), Betsy Straley (MAL), Tim Brehm (Treasurer), Chris Liddle (Secretary), Ron & Clovis Greiner, Charles Hay, Buddy Rich, Elizabeth Becton, Larry Cantu, Jeff & Alisa Perry, Joseph Slay, Mark Wolf, Philip Berry, Jennifer Davis, Francisco Miramontes, Daniel & Colene Smith, Sam Mello, Stephen Revell, Pat Bush
Secretary Report: Feb 2022 Minutes were sent out to general membership for review. No comment/
discussion. Minutes approved as written.
Treasurer Report: There is $1506.90 in the TBA account. Nothing pending
Old Business:
1. Millville Community Garden: 1 hive, added a super. Will be doing a quick check in a week or 2. No problems. (open)
2. Extractor: Nothing new, just letting it ride through spring. (open)
3. Earth Day/Field Day: Earth Day is 22 April. CM Kidd Community Park will be holding a Park/Bee Day on 13 May from 1-5pm. They will have a composting class, tours of the park, bee activities by TBA (observation hive (Stephen Revell), raffle for hive, extraction demonstration (Mark Wolf), honey sales/tasting (Charles Hay and anybody else who wants to come), smoker contest (James Morris)). Charles Hay will bring 3 tables. People need to bring their own chairs. Secretary will contact/secure booth for earth day. This event may not be on the utility bills due to an issue with the county. 4. Calendar for monthly presentations: (open)
April: You’ve got bees, Now what? (James)
May: Integrated pest management (James)
June: Wax Rendering/processing (Stephen Revell)
July: Contact bee college, Cameron Jack/Jimmie Davis (inspector) for presentations, or possibly a picnic
August: Pests/hazards/safety (Tim Brehm) or how to build/use a bee vacuum (Stephen Revell)
New Business:
1. Swarm list: skippert@gmail.com if you wish to be added to the swarm list. Skipper will be keeping track of what swarms are where and who gets sent out. This is only for swarms, not cutouts. We will apply to get on FDACS list for swarms so IFAS will refer to us when they get a call. There is an individual who is not a TBA member who intercepts most of the swarm posts on our Facebook page so new people are not able to get them. We want to share the wealth. Discussion about reaching out to him and asking him to desist or he will be removed from the Facebook group. It was voted to remove the swarm list from the website since most people who are receiving the benefit from this page do not belong to TBA any longer and have not attended a meeting in over 2 years or longer. Secretary will contact Fern to remove this page and also to add Skipper’s phone number for swarm calls. (open)
